We warmly invite you to the first meeting this year as part of the Thursday Culture Forum, which will be dedicated to an exceptional scientist - Prof. Alicja Dorabialska, the first woman who became Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at TUL and patroness of the 80th anniversary of Lodz University of Technology.
The guest speaker will be Assoc. Prof. Tomasz Pospieszny, a professor at UAM and author of biographies of outstanding researchers, including Marie Curie-Skłodowska and Lise Meitner. He is currently preparing a book about Prof. Alicja Dorabialska.

Alicja Dorabialska - a Polish physicochemist, professor at Lviv Polytechnic, Warsaw University of Technology, and Lodz University of Technology. An outstanding scientist, she studied under Marie Curie-Sklodowska at the Radium Institute in Paris. In 1928, she obtained her habilitation at Warsaw University of Technology in physical chemistry, and in 1934 she received the title of extraordinary professor and was appointed head of the Department of Physical Chemistry at Lviv Polytechnic. In 1945, she was appointed full professor and simultaneously took over the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry at Lodz University of Technology. She also became Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry.
Her research primarily focused on issues related to radiation heat from radioisotopes, microcalorimetry, allotropic transformations, metal corrosion, and the history of chemistry. Her scientific output includes 128 publications, including five book publications. In 1972 she published her memoirs titled " Jeszcze jedno życie." [One More Life]
